Services

Orange & Black Consultancy Ltd exists to provide IT services to UK based companies. We are a small company based in Bristol and have been trading since 1995.

We specialise in software development services, primarily in Microsoft products such as:

• C#, VB.Net, ASP.Net , HTML, DTHML, VB6
• Office - Word, Excel, Access
• SQL Server
• Oracle

Projects undertaken include Web site design and development, classic 2-tier and 3-tier systems and some real-time systems.

For all of these services we can provide either skilled personnel who will work with your staff and equipment or we can provide personal who come equipped with all the necessary tools for the job including software and hardware. The choice is yourss.

We can provide the following types of services:

Fixed Fee Service

When you could use it:

• There is a well defined requirement
• A non-working prototype exists to show screen layouts
• The work has well defined boundaries and is not significantly dependent on third parties in your organisation

You provide the following:

• A specification - Use cases, interface definitions, performance requirements,  data base schema, systems architecture. Whatever is appropriate for the task.
• A drop-dead date.
• Access to site or systems if necessary for Unit Testing, Systems testing.
• Access to shared components, code, code templates, site standards documents and any other item that is normally required for developers to produce work according to site standards.

We provide:

• A  summary of the requirements.
• A  contract and a contracted price and delivery date.
• Code 
• Documentation
• Transfer of Copyright to you
• Unit Test scripts 
• After-delivery error support - If you find one we will fix it for free. If the error was due to an error in requirements or requirements drift then this will be fixed for a negotiated price.

What it costs:

• The first one will include a charge of £300 to cover familiarisation with site standards and set-up costs.
• A fixed fee to cover the work. This will be negotiated on a per-contract basis. The fee will be based on our time estimate of the work required and will be competitive when compared with agency rates for on-site staff to perform similar work.

Costs Plus Service

When you could use it:

• The requirement is not clearly defined.
• Requirements are evolving.
• There are external dependencies which will affect the work.

You provide the following:

• An outline specification and statement of requirements.
• A first-delivery date.
• Access to site or systems if necessary for Unit Testing, Systems testing.
• Access to shared components, code, code templates, site standards documents and any other item that is normally required for developers to produce work according to site standards.

We provide:

• A  summary of the requirements.
• A  contract and a contracted price. This price will be split into:
  - A fixed fee based on our estimate of the work
  - An hourly rate for anything after this.
• Code 
• Documentation
• Transfer of Copyright to you
• Unit Test scripts 
• After-delivery error support - If you find one we will fix it for free. If the error was due to an error in requirements or requirements drift then this will be fixed for a negotiated price.

Consultancy Service

When you could use it:

• You need skills
• You need on-site staff
• Requirements are not clear
• Estimates for work are not clear

You provide the following:

• Basic office services as necessary. This may include a PC and software if your IT Security prevents the addition of a third party's laptop.
• Access to the business as necessary.

We provide:

• One or more people with the skills and experience you require.
• A contract based on an hourly competitive consultancy rate for the skills you require.

What it costs:

• No set-up fee.
• A monthly invoice for the hours worked by the consultants.

Notes

• Actual pricing will depend on the location. If the work can be carried out at our own offices then it will be priced cheaper than if an on-site presence is required.
• As a rough guide for 2007 an on-site presence would be charged out at £600 per day and off-site work would be charged out at £500 per day. Lower rates might apply for fixed-fee work or longer projects.
